Rosalyn Redwine is a native of Denver. I attended Denver Public Schools and graduated from Manual High School where I attended the School of Cosmetology in 1976. In 1979, I met and married my husband, Henry Redwine. Together, we started our business called Winning Coiffures Beauty Salon. From that union were born Jermehl and Mia.
Having a great heart for people I have tried to reach and encourage those I meet. I feel my business has provided a sacred place for people. I feel my calling as a Pastor for 23 years to preach the gospel has had an impact on the community. I was introduced to an outreach program focusing on high blood pressure and diabetes and soon became passionate about the health of my community. I became educated about the importance of being in control of your health. I was encouraged to become more proactive in helping others to learn what I learned. The dedication of the volunteers to take time to help our community was an inspiration for me to give back.
I have been in business for 45 years and I realize if I knew what I know now maybe those who did not survive having high blood pressure and diabetes would have. Since becoming a partner working alongside the Colorado Black Health Collaborative program – the Black Barbershop/Salon program, I encourage my clients to get their blood pressure checked when the service is offered at my business. Now with Project HairCare, I can gain more skills to help my clients with their mental wellness. So, let’s not just get Denver and Aurora healthy, but the whole world. God bless you all!
